Back in 1973, Wilma Lovell, Marg Andrews & Celia Wilson opened a store in downtown Oshawa called The Gift House. Little did they know that this quaint and unique gift shop had become the “go to” place to shop for Department 56 collectibles. For the past 20 years, customers and collectors from all over would “ooh and aah” the wonderful and inventive displays the store created each and every year using Department 56 villages, Snowbabies and many other products. Unfortunately, the owner decided to “retire” the Gift House after forty-three years in business.
The Gift House was and has always been a great supporter for the Trillium Village collector’s club. Since the birth of our club in 1994, the store’s Department 56 specialists Maryann and her staff would do fantastic “hands on” display seminars at club meetings and collector gatherings.
The store will be sorely missed by its many loyal customers and Department 56 collectors.
