Our very own club members Martha and Barry were recently nominated as the finalist for the National Council of 56 Clubs’ Collector of the Year award. The purpose of the award is to recognize collectors who positively promote their Department 56 collector club, who actively encourage others in collecting and who voluntarily gives their time for club activities.
At the Saturday night dinner reception in the Sweet Home Chicago Gathering this past September, the winners of the award were unveiled and Martha and Barry were chosen for the honour.
Within the Trillium Village Collectors Club, there is no doubt that Martha and Barry deserve the award. They have been very active within the club ever since they joined. They were part of the executive team for many years – Martha as the club president and Barry treasurer. They have always brought creative display ideas to the club and have shared their expertise with fellow club members in making trees, in “renovating” our beloved lithouses and in many other make-and-take projects. They have travelled to many Department 56 collectors’ gatherings over the years as representatives of Trillium Village Collectors Club and as enthusiastic Department 56 collectors. Nonetheless, it is their friendship and their ever welcoming demeanor to other club members that makes Martha and Barry
The award was a tremendously well deserved recognition for such a great couple and Trillium Village Collectors Club is proud to have Martha and Barry as members.
By the way, the day the award was announced was also Martha and Barry’s wedding anniversary. So, how perfect a timing was that!?
