On a recent trip to the Detroit area, we stopped by the popular Olde World Canterbury Village. It is located about 50 km from downtown Detroit in a scenic suburban area called Lake Orion. This “village” is a complex consists of a number of Tudor styled buildings housing a variety of establishments, such as a castle like restaurant/banquet hall, a pub/bar, a small mill serving snacks and local made sweets, a shop sells nothing but collectibles, a Christmas store, a store selling only Department 56 products and an octagonal pavilion building with a carousel inside. You will surely think you have stepped into the “old world” when you walk into each building. Believe me, if you are a “shopaholic”, you will have no problem spending hours and hours in the shops as they carry many collectible lines, many of which, unfortunately, have long since been discontinued or retired. Department 56 collectors will certainly enjoy their large village display and many other vignettes of Department 56 products.
Established in 1994, Trillium Village Collectors Club is one of Canada's oldest Department 56 collector clubs. We are based in Toronto but have club members all over the province of Ontario.
The objective of our club is to provide a meeting place for club members to share the joy and excitement of their hobbies and to share display ideas featuring their favourite collectibles. All collectors and retailers of Department 56 Village and Holiday products are welcome to join the club. Club membership also includes an informative newsletter mailed physically or electronically to each club member every other month. Membership form is available for download on the "About Us" page.
Trillium Village Collectors Club is a not-for-profit organization. Although we appreciate support from our retailer members, the club is not affiliated with any Department 56 retailers.
