Trillium Village Collectors Club was sad to learn of the sudden passing of Bruce Mellott.
Bruce had been a strong supporter of the club over the years. He had welcomed club members to his home on numerous occasions to view his fantastic Christmas displays and had shared his wonderful display ideas at various club meetings. Bruce was also one of the main contributors in setting up our club’s 20th anniversary display this past May. In the last few months, he had been working diligently with our treasurer (and his great friend) Pat to come up with a proposal for a Department 56 collector convention in Toronto.
The following tribute to Bruce was found online and sums up nicely what a great person Bruce was:
Our sincere condolences to Bruce’s family and friends.A few years ago I was working with Bruce on the TV series "The Firm". For Christmas the star of the show gave the crew a $350 gift card to use in any mall of our choice. After Christmas, people on set are asking each other "what did you spend your gift card on?" When I asked Bruce, he replied "I gave it to a needy family down the street."
That was Bruce.
There will be a Celebration of Life service for Bruce on Monday Nov 24, 2014 between 7 pm and 8:30 pm at Knox United Church (2569 Midland Avenue, Toronto)
